Calculators - Pipelines
This calculator is useful for new main installs. Utilizing the length of pipe in feet and the diameter of the pipe in inches, it calculates the volume of the pipe. Then, using the level of chlorine in the pipe, it determines the amount of Vita‑D‑Chlor necessary to neutralize the chlorine. Calculations are for Vita‑D‑Chlor and Vita‑D‑Chlor Neutral, not for tablets, which should not be used for treatment of high residual chlorine. This calculator does not assist with application or calculate for a 'slug' of high chlorine concentration within the pipe.
Please contact technical support at (800) 322-6646 if you need assisstance with application prior to release.
Calculator
Enter the three parameters and click "Calculate".
Formula
Pounds of Vita‑D‑Chlor = D x D x PPM x Feet / 1,112,300
Kilograms of Vita‑D‑Chlor = D x D x PPM x Feet / 2,450,000
where
D=Pipe Diameter in Inches
PPM=Parts per million of Chlorine to be treated
Feet=Number of feet of Line to be treated
While the statements, information and data provided herein are believed to be accurate and reliable, they are presented without guarantee, warranty, or responsibility of any kind, expressed or implied. This information is based on general calculation for the dechlorinization capabilities of Vita‑D‑Chlorâ„¢. It is intended only to assist in determining the quantity of material to purchase and is not a statement of the actual quantity of Vita‑D‑Chlorâ„¢ required to neutralize chlorine. Different attributes of different water will affect your actual results. Prior to being released into the environment, all treated water must be tested to assure that complete dechlorinization has been achieved.
